SUMMARY:Fulbright U.S. Student Program: Strategies for Competitive Applications to Secure Research\, Teaching\, and Study Abroad Awards
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with 160 countries\, the Fulbright US Student program is the flagship international academic exchange initiative of the US Department of State. It offers over 2\,000 opportunities for dedicated students like you to study\, teach and pursue meaningful research and professional projects. Study opportunities include funding for your master’s or doctorate degree programs. In this workshop\, you will learn about the key components of the application process\, effective strategies for writing a competitive application\, review the major countries with the most opportunities and the highest acceptance rates\, and complete writing and reflection exercises to spark ideas for the first draft of your personal statement or statement of grant purpose. We will review examples of winning personal statements. Countries highlighted include but not limited to Spain\, Germany\, South Korea\, India and Brazil.

SUMMARY:Civic Leadership Scholarships and Fellowships: Opportunities Beyond Fulbright
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. asserted that “not everybody can be famous\, but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service.” In this workshop\, we will explore the meaning of citizenship and civic leadership and review prestigious scholarship and fellowship opportunities that recognize students who demonstrate this important quality. Students will identify an opportunity that best matches their interests. You will also complete writing and reflection exercises to better articulate your community service or civic engagement experiences\, your future goals in serving the community\, and your potential for leadership. Opportunities to demonstrate and deepen civic leadership will also be explored.

SUMMARY:An Overview of NSCS Scholarship Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) scholarships are available exclusively to NSCS members and are awarded based on academic achievement\, leadership\, and service. This workshop will provide an overview of these scholarship opportunities\, which vary in value\, with particular emphasis on the BHE Foundation Emerging Leaders Scholarship. Students will draft responses to common application questions and begin writing a personal statement.
